UWI Students Get $16 Million In Scholarships

by: Staff

New Fortress Energy (NFE), a global energy infrastructure company, has announced that 14 students at The University of the West Indies, Mona, have been awarded with scholarships to the tune of over J$16 million.

Among the recipients are recent graduates Rickel Williams, who completed her bachelor of science degree in civil engineering, and Gary McDonald, who received his bachelor of law degree with first-class honours and is now enrolled into the Norman Manley Law School, specialising in environmental law.

Expressing thanks, Williams, said; "I cannot thank New Fortress Energy enough for selecting me as one of their first scholarship recipients. Final year was particularly challenging for me, so this scholarship no doubt helped me focus more on my studies and less on my financial situation. I can safely say that today I'm a proud graduate, thanks to the support from New Fortress Energy."
