‘A day they will never forget’: Bringing school supplies, health clinics, and fun to students in Puerto Rico

OUR FOUNDATION

A smart start to the school year

The beginning of the school year is even more exciting for the hundreds of students in Puerto Rico who participated in our third-annual back-to-school fair in August.

Held in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs in Las Margaritas and Bayamón, the fairs gave the kids a jump start on their education, plus an opportunity to reconnect and enjoy a day with their friends.

Through our New Fortress Energy (NFE) Foundation, we donated 600 backpacks filled with paper, calculators, colored pencils, hand sanitizers, and masks.

We also offered dental hygiene education presentations from the Puerto Rico Department of Health, glucose testing from the Puerto Rico College of Medical Technologists, and haircuts sponsored by NUC University, plus face-painting, balloon figures, and snacks and lunch boxes. Music from entertainer and emcee Trotamundos rounded out the festivities.

“It was so much fun for kids and families, and a special moment because kids were happy to see each other again,” said Carolina Capote, Corporate Partnership Manager at Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico. “Seeing our participants enjoying the event is the best reward. Thanks to New Fortress for giving to the communities a day they will never forget."

We’re delighted to continue partnering with Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico to build a brighter future by supporting families and children. It’s how we bring to life our commitment to education and the positive energy we are looking to spread across our communities.
