Celebrating back-to-school in Puerto Rico with facepainting and new supplies
Providing positive energy for the new school year
New Fortress Energy and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico teamed up for the fourth year in a row to help students get ready for the new school year.
Hundreds of students in Bayamón and Las Margaritas, Puerto Rico, jump-started their education this year at the fourth annual back-to-school fair hosted by New Fortress Energy at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico.
Against the background of the musical entertainment of master of ceremonies Trotamundos, 400 students and their parents toured the events to receive dental hygiene education from the Puerto Rico Department of Health; glucose testing from the Puerto Rico College of Medical Technologists; haircuts sponsored by Abraham Salon; and 600 backpacks filled with paper, calculators, pencils, and other materials. Facepainting, balloon figures, snacks, and lunch boxes rounded out the programming.
“It was an amazing work and event,” said Carolina Capote, Corporate Partnership Manager at Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico. “It was so much fun for kids and families, and a special moment because kids were happy to see each other again. Seeing our participants enjoying the event is the best reward. Thanks to New Fortress Energy for giving to the communities a day they will never forget."
We’re proud to build on our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico to support families and children and bring to life our commitment to support education and spread positive energy across our communities. Throughout the year, we also provide scholarships and school supplies; create science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workshops; provide seed-funding and mentorship to uplift high-impact, high-potential entrepreneurs; support programs and initiatives that conserve and protect resources and the environment; and partner with educational institutions to improve the standard of teaching and encourage exciting learning opportunities in the STEM fields.
