Happy
Mother’s
Day!

As we honor all the moms and mother figures in our lives this Mother’s Day, we are privileged to spotlight the remarkable journeys of three extraordinary mothers within our New Fortress Energy family. These dedicated women power our world with positive energy as they seamlessly work to help us realize the power and potential of liquefied natural gas while helping their children realize their own unlimited power and potential.

Meet Jackie

“Be genuine, be kind, have a good heart, and share positive energy with everyone,” Jackie Jia, Supply Chain Supervisor, New York

As a supply chain professional, Jackie Jia loves not only the pursuit of efficiency, but also the opportunity to provide unparalleled support to her colleagues across NFE.

Since joining us in 2018, she has taken on many challenging roles – including, in 2022, motherhood. She particularly appreciates the camaraderie she has developed with colleagues who are also moms.

“My mom friends at NFE are the best coworkers and mothers that I know,” Jackie says, “and they have been huge inspirations during my pregnancy and motherhood journey at NFE.”

Over the years, her perspective on Mother’s Day has also evolved.

"Mother's Day used to be a day to show my appreciation to my own mother and other mother figures in my life," Jackie notes. “My mother has always influenced me the most. She was a working mom and did her best to balance her work and family. Since I became a mom, I’ve realized even more how much she sacrificed to ensure that I grew up in a healthy and financially stable environment. I think of her and appreciate her every day.”

Jackie is now grateful to expand her observance of Mother’s Day to reflect on her own journey and contemplate how she can be a better role model. As a mom of a toddler, her maternal advice these days is usually brief and to the point: “Do not touch that!” and “Do not go there!” But she looks forward to sharing the deeper messages that can enrich her daughter’s life.

“I will tell her to always be genuine, be kind, have a good heart, and share positive energy with everyone she’s connected with in her life,” Jackie says.

This year, she plans to celebrate this special day by creating cherished memories with her husband and daughter away from their usual hustle and bustle in the Big Apple. It’s a time to be sure her family cultivates a broad range of happy times together.

“The responsibility I feel after bringing another life into this world is huge,” Jackie reflects. “The purpose of life has shifted so much. The experience of exploring a new lifestyle, conquering little problems on a day-to-day basis, and witnessing my child achieving every milestone is priceless, and makes me feel empowered as a mother.”

Meet Viviana

“Always strive to instill positive change.” - Viviana Rivero, Enterprise Data Manager, New York

Viviana Rivero leads our IT compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and our audit lifecycle, ensuring our work conforms with rules and regulations in our ever-changing environment.

As proud mom to her son, Lucas Alejandro, Viviana knows about navigating changes. She appreciates Mother’s Day as a chance to stop and reflect on all that moms do for their children.

“Mothers are the reason we are all here,” says Viviana, who will be spending the holiday this year with friends and her family. “I celebrate for me and all mother figures who helped shape me. The women in my family are a force to be reckoned with, and this is what I strive for as well.”

She looks forward to a lifetime of sharing the lessons she has learned to help her son.

“Right now, my advice to him is to eat,” she says with a laugh. “But soon I will tell him to always remember that someone had to walk for him to thrive, and to always strive to instill positive change in himself and others.”

Viviana knows the value of flexibility and support, both at work and at home.

“Companies like New Fortress Energy can help mothers be there for their children and not feel limited when making decisions that can shape their child’s life,” she says. “That’s important to me because my son’s smile empowers me. I’m grateful for the amazing tribe that supports me in being the best I can be for him.”

Meet Simone

“Women have this incredible superpower, and becoming a mother is empowering in itself.” - Simone Azcarate, Marketing Director, Florida

Simone Azcarate’s first professional job was in the fast-paced world of advertising, crafting captivating campaigns featuring print and digital ads, TV and radio spots, and events for a diverse range of clients. She then tackled business-to-business marketing, which paved the way for her to take a new approach to marketing with NFE in 2018, where she currently manages company branding, events, photoshoots, video shoots, and more.

And this year, she is celebrating another milestone – her first Mother’s Day as a mom.

"Mother's Day has always been a special day to celebrate all the mothers in my life – my mom, grandmothers, aunts, cousins, and friends," Simone reflects. "But this year is particularly special. I feel blessed, and I am so grateful I can celebrate with my very own mini-me."

This treasured holiday highlights the profound bond between mothers and their children.

"People can explain the motherhood journey to you," Simone shares, "but it's something you truly only understand after you go through it yourself. It makes you appreciate all moms so much more!"

As she prepares to celebrate the day surrounded by her beloved family, Simone's thoughts turn to her own mother.

"My mom has always been a ray of sunshine," Simone reflects. "That’s how I want my daughter to feel every day, from the moment she wakes up until the moment she falls back to sleep – surrounded by love and positivity. I want her to grow up strong, confident, and knowing she can do anything she puts her mind to.”

Simone appreciates how NFE empowers working moms by even the simplest of gestures – asking a mother how she and her baby are doing, and showing interest in their well-being. Because while she is still empowered by the challenges of marketing the positive energy of liquefied natural gas, she now has another compelling inspiration.

"Looking at my daughter," Simone muses, "knowing that my body created her and gave her life, is still surreal. Women have this incredible superpower, and becoming a mother is empowering in itself.
