Meet Kristian

Kristian Petric, Manager of Commercial Operations with our New Fortress Energy team in New York City, has a natural drive for problem-solving and multi-tasking.

From reviewing commercial fuel and shipping contract execution, to providing post-execution support, to facilitating the movement of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from procurement to delivery terminals, to developing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting packages, Kristian keeps it all running smoothly – with contagious enthusiasm.

“I love the hustle,” he says. “NFE moves at a fast pace and every day, there are new opportunities and challenges to tackle. It’s especially exciting to discover ways we can operate more cost-effectively so we can continue passing even more savings on to our customers, while expanding our presence in other countries that are experiencing energy poverty.”

The motivation, curiosity, and adaptability Kristian is known for today have their roots in his upbringing and his family. The oldest of four siblings, he grew up in Bergen County, N.J., a suburb of New York City. His favorite activities were playing sports and spending as much time as possible down by the shore during the summer months.

At Fairfield University, he studied finance, accounting, and economics to gain a broad range of skills.

“I attribute my career to never saying no to an opportunity,” he says. “I started in accounting, which allowed me to learn how a business works at the most granular level. I have leveraged those skills to transition into my current role.”

He credits his grandfather for having the greatest influence on his life.

“My grandfather fled Yugoslavia after World War II to seek a better life,” Kristian says. “After spending five years in a refugee camp in Italy, he was finally approved to immigrate to the U.S. He settled in northern New Jersey and became a painter. He instilled in me from a young age the importance of a good education, discipline, and hard work. One day, I want to own a place in my grandfather’s village in Croatia and spend the summer there with my family.”

For now, he’s focused, both personally and professionally, on making the world a better place.

“I am proud to help make a difference in areas that are important to me,” he says. “I’m especially proud to work for a company that’s helping address worldwide energy poverty by providing cleaner, more reliable, and more affordable energy.” When he’s not helping his team make the world a cleaner place, he’s giving back to his community. “I serve on the school board of my parochial primary school, have invested in an early-stage, women-owned business in New York City, and am a long-standing donor to the U.S. Military Academy,” he says.

We’re proud to have Kristian’s positive energy powering our team and company!
